The government has published its response to the consultation on Simpler Recycling – originally called Consistency – laying out how it will be applied to household and non-household waste in England.
Basically, all businesses and non-household municipal (schools, prisons, care homes etc) sites above 10 employees will be required to put out dry recyclables and food waste for separate collection from 1 April 2025. This will apply to micro businesses and household waste from 1 April 2027. There will be no de-minimis so regardless of how little is produced by a premises, it must be collected separately. More details can be found here including a timeline of various waste policies implementation.
